The U-Smasher is a tier 6 in the U-Series mod. This ship is an excellent rammer that goes very fast with its canons in the back. This ship is a much better version of the Barracuda and it shreds most ships if caught unexpected. When the ship was first released, it was commonly used as a ship to troll kill teammates by ramming them through asteroid fields. As a result of this, this ship received many changes and new mechanics were added to help prevent this. Now, it's still a troll ship, but it has received many nerfs, and fits in with the rest of the t6's. Just don't underestimate these ships though, or you'll be sent into oblivion at the speed of light.

Tips[ | ]

  • This ship and the U-Afterburn decrease the damage of the thrust lasers when upgrading damage, instead of increasing damage, making it move faster for the same energy.
  • Immediately after upgrading to this ship, upgrade in this order (keep about 300-500 gems in cargo, upgrade whenever above gem target):
    • 3-4 times in shield regen and agility
    • max out shield regen (2) to mine faster without having to pick up gems
    • agility (8) for better control of the ship
    • energy regen (4) because it's more efficient than upgrading damage
    • damage (5) because it's more efficient than upgrading energy cap
    • energy cap (3) to finish firepower-related upgrades
    • shield cap (1) to lower chance of dying
    • ship speed (7) to move faster when not dashing
    • bullet speed (6) (optional) to make your bullets look faster
  • This ship doesn't benefit much from ship speed (speed without boosting) and bullet speed, as its speed is mainly from boosting forward (although it still helps when moving while waiting for energy to regenerate), and the bullet speed upgrade is almost useless.
  • Do not start to attack until your ship is maxed (except bullet speed) and you have 1000 health (800 shield plus 200 gems). You can run away from every other ship except the U-Afterburn.
  • Ram enemies ships into asteroid fields to damage them. Though sending enemies into empty space does greatly disorient them, it doesn't actually accomplish much except possibly separate them from their teammates. Moving enemies away from the fight can help your teammates fight the remaining enemies though.
  • Although it's a purely ramming ship, unlike the Barracuda, upgrading bullet speed is not very helpful. With the Barracuda, it can dash forward a further distance, but for the U-Smasher, it only affects how fast the back lasers move.
  • Some ships can do a lot of damage if they are facing you when you attack (like U-Barricade, U-Monitor's right side, U-Bruiser, U-10 Thunder) and are very tricky to ram! Try to attack them from behind (for U-Monitor, from their left).
  • Be careful of heavy ships (like U-Octa, U-Perimeter, U-Wall, U-Fusion, U-Marksman) as their large mass results in little speed for the same momentum. While able to knock them back, really it's not worth it, unless they can be rammed into a very dense asteroid field. Go after other ships.
  • Target lightweight ships, except the U-Afterburn.
  • Be careful against the U-Afterburn. While its light mass makes you think it's an easy kill, it can heavily damage you, while negating your knockback with its recoil. In fact, the U-Afterburn is a good ship for killing the U-Smasher and chasing down weakened U-Smashers that try to flee.
  • Flying into groups of enemies is a good/bad idea depending on how you do it. If they are clustered closely, go ahead. One ship knocks into the next, like bowling. If they aren't so packed together, beware. Knocking into them usually takes away your initial velocity, or worst case sends you into a spin. Being sent into a spin is this ships worst nightmare, as it can't easily escape.

Note: Although after the version upgrade where only the ship that does the most damage to an asteroid gets the gems, gem stealing was severely curbed. However, with this ship, even bumping slightly into a teammate incurs massive knockback. So to all the U-Smashers, be aware of gem stealers.

Trivia[ | ]

  • Like the Cuttlefish and U-Afterburn, the U-Smasher has a weak dash to prevent teammate trolling. The U-Smasher and U-Afterburn are the only U-Series ships with a dash.
  • The Colossal Squid, the Nautic Series version of the U-Smasher, has no weak dash to prevent teammate trolling.
